We are not our bodies, but when we live fully in them & give them the energy, breath, & attention they deserve, the rest of our lives flow that much more smoothly.

Yoga, the 6,000 year old science of integrating body, mind & soul, has proven to be the most effective method in keeping my own body vital & alive while also calling forth the magic that can happen when one becomes conscious of the breath in each moment.

Though I’ve been a person “connected” to my body for all of my life- rollerskating, swimming, track, cheerleading, dancing & performing both in theater & with modern dance companies- yoga really began to speak to me in my late twenties. It helped settled my energy, gave FORM to help create FLOW. It eased the rumbling thoughts of my mind. Truly, it helped set me free.
In 2010 I accepted an opportunity to become a certified yoga instructor with a focus in the vinyasa krama yogic arts, a form that embraces the art & science of combining yoga elements in flowing sequences to create variety, safety & effectiveness in a practice.
I am now a registered yoga teacher (RYT) through Yoga Alliance & offer classes & workshops to a variety of ages & physical abilities. Whether leading three year olds into tree pose at my daughter’s preschool, guiding teens towards self esteem & physical challenge or offering gentle classes to those who are healing or hurting, yoga continues to prove itself as a powerful too. It also provides me the most amazing platform in which to connect & serve- both to my community & myself.
Sessions are as follows:
single private sessions: $75/hr
package of ten private sessions: $500 ($250 savings)
small group up to four: $90/hr
package of ten group: $750 ($250 savings)
Private & small group sessions will regularly include breath awareness & exercises (pranayama), rest, & meditation as well as a physical practice that supports your personal intentions & needs.
I also believe that it is through the energy of our heart space where we most thrive & find our creative centers & sense of wellness. Because of this, I believe it is key that I do everything I can to help guide practitioners towards heart expansion, fearlessness & compassionate observation of any energetic shifts from withing. We will engage in an inner dialogue with this heart space as often as possible.
For me, big shifts happened in the winter of 2012/13 after moving north from the tiny southernmost tropical island where I’d lived for more than fifteen years. The harsh, cold climate took a huge toll on my body, my mind, & my soul, as did a mysterious illness with shades of gray pointing towards autoimmune disease or simply the body’s message of TOO MUCH STRESS!
What happened in this difficult shift was nothing short of extraordinary. I began to TRULY see the huge scope of what yoga can offer, especially for those whose energy is not the stuff it once was.
My power vinyasa practice, out of necessity, was replaced by simple movement & full attention on breath. & in this, I found that my “practice” lived off the mat just as much as it did on.
Thus the birth of HOKEY POKEY YOGA, a video series that offers short clips on simple yoga insights or practices, which I originally planned on offering to the mammas over on my THE SPARKLE POWER PROJECT BLOG. But when a few friends who weren’t mothers found some of the posts & reported how helpful they were, I realized I wasn’t serving as fully as I could. That I needed to share it here on the FLOW MOJO BLOG, too.
HOKEY POKEY YOGA is meant to offer EASE, HEART, BREATH, & PLAY in a short time span to help remind you of life’s simple beauty.
