Hello Dear Maestros.
It’s been so long since I’ve reached out–thank you for taking the time to read here, now.
Life has been… well, let’s just say there have been lots of contrasts, all of which define where I stand today. Like this piece of coral rock, I guess, tossed about by the sea & somehow deposited on land for me to find & hold & offer as a reminder to love no matter what. Beautiful but shaped by a history of vigor.
I have been writing nearly every day since returning to the island, helping promote small businesses & wonderful organizations that I believe in, but I have not been writing from that place within. There’s so much I want to share, yet these last two years have been a spiral inward, & in that quiet, I am now having a hard time finding my voice again. Besides, how much does one reveal to be real? Less is more, they say. (I long for more).
It is my intention to return to my online offerings- weekly posts with inspirational prompts, the development of an online video course on harnessing your creativity, & a few other surprises– & then couple them with what is going on right here, in the flesh, on this sweet little island & wherever else I might be adventuring to :).
Below you will see my January offerings- yoga classes, a reading, & an art workshop.
The yoga classes on the pier are love offerings- pay if you want, what you can- I’ll be there to teach either way every Wednesday morning after dropping my smalls to school. Do bring your own mat or blanket. The encaustic class at The Studios of Key West is level II- if you have any experience in this medium, register asap & come check it out… or register for the level I class happening next month. The yoga & creativity workshop is open to all levels, no experience required. Register with TSKW or drop in.
The reading is tonight! Lots of wonderful artists from the Keys will be there, celebrating the McKee Retrospective. I’m grateful for the grant opportunity way back in 2007 which allowed me to travel to Cuba to research for my novel, & to do a solo exhibition of mixed media photographs at The Studios of Key West in 2008.
What does all of this have to do with a word of the year, you ask? My word this year is LOVE, & I am consciously choosing that path towards creating that vibration in my being in as big of a way as I can create it- whatever it takes. & for me, creativity & yoga are two direct paths to that.
My girls & the sea are also part of that path, & I’ve got some fun things in store to help illuminate love on those ends, too. Stay tuned for that.
In the meantime, if you had to pick a word for the year, what would it be? Hold it close to your heart, all year long. It will guide you & get you exactly where you need to be.
Here’s to new beginnings….
